Q: Where do I put the pk3 file(s) for this mod?

A: If you're running Allied Assault, then place the pk3 in your 'mohaa/main' directory. For Spearhead, place it in 'mohaa/mainta'. For Breakthrough, place it in 'mohaa/maintt'.

Q: How do I start a game of Capture-The-Flag, Freeze-Tag, or Demolition?

A: If you are trying to run the gametype on a dm map (mohdm1, mohdm2, mohdm3...) then start the map in Round-Based-Match mode. If you are trying to run it on an obj map (obj_team1, obj_team2, etc..) then start the map in Objective mode. For Freeze-Tag-TOW, run the map in Tug-of-War mode.

In your server config file you would need to set the cvar "g_gametype" to "3" for Round-Based-Match mode, "4" for Objective mode, and "5" for Tug-of-War mode.

The game by default will play Freeze-Tag on the dm maps, Freeze-Tag-Objective on the obj maps, and Freeze-Tag-TOW on the tow maps.

If you want to play Capture-The-Flag, you must set the cvar "g_extgametype" to "ctf". If you want to play Demolition, then set the cvar "g_extgametype" to "dem". If you want to play Freeze-Tag-CTF, then set the cvar "g_extgametype" to "ftctf". If you want to play Freeze-Tag-Demolition, then set the cvar "g_extgametype" to "ftdem".

Here is the complete list of gametypes you can set "g_extgametype" to:

Q: What happened to the Voodoo-Dolls gametype?

A: I changed the name of it to Demolition in version 1.1.2 of the mod. If you were running Voodoo-Dolls from a previous version of the mod than you should change your server config file to set g_extgametype to 'dem' instead of 'vd'.

Q: In the readme it lists a bunch of CVARs (g_ctf_*, g_ft_*, g_dem_*). Do I need to set all of those to get the mod to work?

A: No. If you are just trying to get the mod to work, ignore the cvars. All you need to do is start the map in round-based-match or objective mode, and set "g_extgametype" if you want to run something other than Freeze-Tag (see above). The cvars are for customizing the rules of the game and only need to be set if you want to change them from their default settings.

Q: I started the game and I can see the scoreboard message of the gametype, but nothing is happening. I don't see the CTF flags or the melting laser doesn't work in Freeze-Tag.

A: You need to have 2 players in the game for the round to start (just like Round-Based-Match or Objective-Match). The CTF flags don't appear until the round starts. In Freeze-Tag the laser beams don't work until the round has started.

Q: I've installed the pk3 file(s) in the right spot and I've started the game in Round-Based-Match mode or Objective mode, but still nothing is happening. I don't see the scoreboard message for the gametype, and when 2 people are in the game it just runs a normal round based or objective game instead of the new gametype.

A: Most likely you are running another mod that is conflicting with this mod. Any mod that would override the map script file (mohdm1.scr, mohdm2.scr, obj_team1.scr, etc...) would conflict. You can check this by just opening the other mod's pk3 file in Winzip and seeing if one of these files are in there. Map fix files or stock map alterations are the most common problems since they usually override the map script file. Try temporarily removing all other mods that you have and see if it works. If so, then you have a conflicting mod.

Also, make sure that you have restarted the server completely after you place the pk3 file in it. The new mod will not be recognized until the server is restarted.

Also, verify that the gametype you are trying to run is set up for that map.

Q: So I found out I have a map fix or other mod that conflicts. How do I run both CTF/FT/DEM and my other mod at the same time?

A: You can't unless you manually copy and paste the code from the conflicting mod's map script into the ctf/ft/dem map script. With a little scripting knowledge its easy to do, or if you know someone who can do it, ask them.

Q: Is there an easier way to get a map fix working with this mod?

A: Yes. Use a map fix that doesn't conflict, like MAM (Mohaa Admin Mod) or Dogmeat's map fix (sorry don't have a good link to this one). These mods don't override the map scripts-- instead they override the 'dmprecache' file. With MAM you also get other useful stuff for controlling your server as well as an anti-landsharking fix.

Q: Ok, I got it running but my server is crashing.

A: First see if you can get an idea of when exactly it is crashing. Then email me and let me know what is happening. If you are running an Alpha version of the mod, you can switch back to a more stable version temporarily until I find and fix the bug that is causing the crashing. Also it would help me greatly if you could send a logfile of when the server crashed. See the Bugs forum for information on making a logfile.

Q: I want to play these gametypes on custom maps. How can I do this?

A: The mod has to be set up specifically for each custom map. The custom map's script file has to be edited in order to start the gametype and set certain parameters such as the positions of the flag bases for CTF. This is not that complicated to do if you are proficient with editing files with a text editor and can follow the examples that I have set with the stock map scripts. See the Customizing section of the mod forums for more help with doing this.

Q: I want to remove this mod but it won't let me! What's wrong?

A: In general, if you want to add or remove a pk3 file from a server, you must first shut it down completely. Once you add or remove the pk3 files, start the server back up for the changes to take effect.
